My client is a leading provider of custom orthotics and prosthetics, also known as Durable Medical Equipment (DME).
They are essentially a prominent medical device fabricator / healthcare treatment company, who make and fit custom orthotic braces and prosthetic limbs for a variety of patients. They have several offices all over Southeastern PA, New Jersey and Delaware, and have been in business for almost 40 years. They are a well-established and growing healthcare provider, who has created a brand new position for a
Senior Sales and Marketing Representative.
This job is an exciting opportunity for an entrepreneurially minded sales professional with significant DME industry sales experience to create a sales presence within a company, who has never had a dedicated sales force within its organization before. This is virgin territory for my client, and they are seeking a special someone, who can take this ball and run with it.
Theirs is a referral based / service oriented business that caters to hospitals, orthopedic doctors, rehabilitation centers, and nursing homes to find its end-user customers / patients. In the past, they have strictly used their practitioners and the company's reputation for being a quality O&P service provider to generate new business. Now that they are growing and evolving into a more complex corporation, the need for an in-house sales person has become more and more prevalent.
The job will initially involve proving the concept of a dedicated in-house sales person to generate a higher level of sales for the company. Direct, hands-on, in-the-field sales will be required. If successful, the Sales & Marketing Representative could literally become a sales manager and build their own sales team.
Must have at least 5 years of Durable Medical Equipment (DME), Medical Device, and/or Healthcare Service sales experience selling to hospitals, doctors, treatment centers, and/or nursing homes.
Unlikely to seriously consider any experience selling Pharmaceuticals.
Must be a proactive self-starter, who is able to build a sales territory out of nothing with limited support. Essentially a Do-it-Yourselfer.
Must be able to work with minimal supervision on complicated and multi-pronged projects.
Must be good at relationship building with customers.
Must be willing and able to drive a lot. Although there will be a lot of travel, it will be primarily dedicated to Southeastern PA, Southern NJ, and all of Delaware. Unlikely to require overnight stays. Will be able to go home at night.
A company car or car allowance will be provided.
A BS Degree or MBA is preferable, but neither is required.
Must have good computer skills - Knowledge with a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) type of software is required.
Base salary will range between $60K to $70K with a bonus structure that is still being worked out due to the newness of this job. As stated above, my client has never had an in-house / dedicated sales professional before, and they are trying to come up with a fair performance based bonus structure, which is highly likely to be paid out on a quarterly basis. They believe it will be possible to earn a total income package (base + bonus) worth over $100K.
